In 1881, Kintaro Hattori opened a clock shop in Tokyo's fabled Ginza district. This store is the direct ancestor of today's Seiko Corporation. Established under the name of K. Hattori & Co. Ltd., the history of Seiko began. After mastering clock technology, the first wristwatch under the name of Seiko was made in 1938. A new watch factory was established which a year later produced 1,179,639 watches. In 1992, Seiko introduced its revolutionary Kinetic technology. Simple movement of the human body powers this watch, which requires no battery replacement. It was the first quartz watch of this kind. Click for More Watches
